HALT

Hardware accelerated terminal implementation written in C++ and OpenGL.

Installation

Windows

HALT has a dependency on the OpenGL Extension Wrangler Library. You must download it from here.

While you can build HALT standalone, it is recommended that you use CMake instead as it is much easier.

CMake

First, clone the repository:

>git clone git://github.com/jcmoyer/HALT.git

Then, inside the HALT folder create a new folder called build:

>cd HALT
>mkdir build
>cd build

You can then invoke CMake from the command line or by using the CMake GUI. Here is how you do it from the command line:

>cmake ..

CMake will then generate files to compile HALT in the build directory.

Visual Studio (Standalone)

Clone the repository into a folder:

>git clone git://github.com/jcmoyer/HALT.git

Then, in Visual Studio, create a new project from source. Select the HALT directory. You need to configure your build settings so that Visual Studio builds either a static library or DLL (consult your documentation). Then, link in OpenGL32.lib and glew32.lib. Build normally.

The examples have an additional dependency on SDL 1.2. They can be built by linking SDL.lib and Halt.lib (default).

Linux

Debian/Ubuntu

First, download the required dependencies. These are required to build HALT in one way or another:

$ sudo apt-get install build-essential libglew-dev libgl1-mesa-dev

Then, clone the repository:

$ git clone git://github.com/jcmoyer/HALT.git
CMake

Go into the HALT directory and create a new directory called build:

$ cd HALT/
$ mkdir build && cd build

Then, you can use CMake to generate makefiles for HALT:

$ cmake ..

Or, if you prefer a GUI that lists all of the compile settings:

$ ccmake ..

Then you can build it and install it if you wish:

$ make && make install

Usage

You can view the documentation here. You can also find working examples in the examples directory. The examples depend on SDL 1.2 and HALT.
