As an occasional org-ref user, I have run into #456 several times. I understand there are complications that prevent
org-ref-default-bibliography
from being consulted when exporting to pdf. That being the case, it would be helpful to clarify the documentation so that users can discover why their exports are failing. I've added some very brief changes to the variable definition and the manual that attempt to do this.
