Why not release 3.0.0 and if any issue release a fix version 3.0.1 ?
I'm pretty sure, until it's no more beta, few if nobody will use it fearing issues.

That's not what was previously discussed. I don't think this is ready for a full 3.0.0 release yet, I'm happy to push a beta out to get some initial feedback and people will use the beta for 5.2.1 support.

It's academic now because you have pushed it out anyway. Let hope there isn't too much whining if it's broken some legacy behaviour.
