CrossPlane Configuration Package for the Flux Deployment

This Configuration Package depends on crossplane/provider-terraform provider.

Under the hood it uses the Terraform Provider Flux and Terraform Provider kubectl

Install the CrossPlane Terraform Provider

Install the crossplane Terraform Provider in yout managent cluster

kubectl crossplane install provider crossplane/provider-terraform:v0.1.2

kubectl get providers

Create the secret in crossplane-system with the kubeconfig of your target cluster where you want to install the flux.

kubectl -n crossplane-system create secret generic cluster-config --from-file=kubeconfig=/tmp/vcluster-flux.yaml

Deploy the Flux

You can deploy the flux using the CR as below,

You can additioanly provide the following parameters

Name	Description	Default Value
parameters/flux_version	The the flux version to install	v0.24.1
parameters/image_registry	Container registry where the toolkit images are published	ghcr.io/fluxcd
parameters/image_pull_secret	Kubernetes secret name used for pulling the toolkit images from a private registry	''

kubectl apply -f example-flux.yaml
flux.ijuned.com/demo created

Check status

You can check the status of the flux deployment using following kubectl

kubectl get flux,workspace

Publishing the Package

Download the crossplane plugin if not done already,

curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/crossplane/crossplane/release-1.5/install.sh | sh
sudo mv kubectl-crossplane /usr/local/bin
kubectl crossplane --help

Build the configuration package

kubectl crossplane build configuration -f package/

[root@tiber flux_crossplane_package]# ls -l package/crossplane-flux-*.xpkg
-rw-r--r--. 1 vagrant vagrant 5632 Dec 24 12:31 package/crossplane-flux-b16c5eb3079f.xpkg

kubectl crossplane push configuration -f package/crossplane-flux-b16c5eb3079f.xpkg  junaid18183/crossplane-flux:0.0.1

You can downlaod the configuration now,

kubectl crossplane install configuration junaid18183/crossplane-flux:0.0.1
configuration.pkg.crossplane.io/junaid18183-crossplane-flux created

kubectl get configurations.pkg.crossplane.io

This configuration should install the crossplane-provider-terraform automatic, as the dependency is added on it.
