Question - Is there a way to group the ToC pane entries into groups?

I don't really want to add parent topics that have nothing but links to child topics to do this grouping.
But I'd like to something like this in the ToC pane on the left-side of the page:

Overview

OV topic 1
OV topic 2

Requests

RQ topic 1
RQ topic 2

The "Overview" and "Requests" text shouldn't be clickable and don't represent actual topics. They're just a "grouping" mechanism to make the ToC more easily scannable.

Is there a way to do that?

Thanks for submitting a discussion @bisdavid! Unfortunately, there is currently no out-of-the-box way to do this (but something similar to #1313 can be implemented). I also think this is a pretty reasonable feature request, and would be happy to review a PR that implements this.

(if so, we'd have to figure out the best way to specify this sort of behaviour; likely by placing something in _config.yml, though I could also see this being done with a "phantom" page that doesn't get linked to)

Document collections provide non-clickable grouping headings. The just-the-docs-tests site shows how they look, and its configuration file illustrates how they can be configured.

And that worked for me perfectly! I do wish that I could use them arbitrarily in the order, instead of them all being at the end of the list, but it gets me 95% of the way to where I wanted to be. THANK YOU!
