Fantastic Fiction
This plugin offers another download source for book metadata from one of the most consistent sources around of fantasticfiction.com.
It is designed to either supplement or replace the metadata plugins that come with calibre.
Fantastic Fiction has very good book descriptions, excellent series information, consistently sized covers and is extremely fast to retrieve from.
- Can retrieve title, author, series, isbn, comments, publisher, publication date and covers
- Also retrieves a Fantastic Fiction id, which can be used to directly jump to the page for a specific book from the book details pane (like Goodreads/ISBN etc).
- Optionally assign the Genre value Fantastic Fiction has for some books to your Tags column
Access the configuration dialog via either of:
- Preferences -> Metadata download -> Fantastic Fiction -> Configure selected source
- Edit Metadata -> Configure download metadata -> Fantastic Fiction -> Configure selected source
The Metadata fields to download section is common to all metadata download plugins, and allows you to exclude fields from the plugin that you do not want to overwrite from this particular source.

| If genre found in comments | This website sometimes includes genres at the bottom of the book description. Choose an option from: - Discard genre from comments - Move genre into tags column - Keep genre in comments |
| Reduce header sizes in comments | Some description pages include <h1>, <h2> or <h3> tags.These are oversized for the calibre book details pane. Check this option to replace all of those with <h4>. |
| Use published date from oldest edition | The default behavior will use the latest edition published date. Check this option to use the earliest date from all editions. |
