When choosing "send as email", file attachment does not work on Windows. Therefore, "Automatically open folders of attached files" should be enabled as default. Since "send as email" seems to work at Linux, I would propose to enable this as default only on Windows.

Not convinced because I would find this annoying that an explorer window would open.

Do you use the feature "send as email"? How do you attach PDFs?

Yes, by searching the PDF manually and attaching it then. I have to search for the PDF file myself in both cases. The effort of opening this folder is not too big.

n case the PDF is attached to the entry in JabRef, the explorer opens with the file selected. No need to search. Just drag and drop the file to the Email.

In case there is no attachment, nothing is opened. (And I would suggest to run „Find unlinked files“ 😜)

Sure! It should be approx 3 to 5 lines of code. The challange is to identify where to put it.
