Welcome to the meross_lan wiki!

This wiki contains some useful informations in order to get going with meross_lan and also tries to document all of the various sources of informations available regarding Meross devices.

Yes, because getting up and going with meross_lan could be as 'easy' as installing the integration and let it work 'side-by-side' with the Meross cloud implementation (where meross_lan talks HTTP protocol) or, a bit more 'hardcore', where you drop your Meross(s) off their official cloud implementation and use them as if they were only 'yours'. The latter being a bit more difficult because the MQTT broker (mosquitto anyway) configuration could be a pain since mosquitto itself seems a bit 'unstable' through its updates. I don't really know how and why and I can't (nor I want) really blame no-one since I'm not so expert to talk but in my little experience with meross_lan I've already seen a lot of 'working'/'not working' threads with no apparent reason between mosquitto versions. Also, since mosquitto in HA is usually embedded in its own addon, this adds an extra layer of 'possibly annoying issues'.

So, this wiki is just beginning so ...please be kind to me ;)

Tools

These tools are our 'swiss army knives':

  • Meross utilities. This is a complete command line toolset useful to 'get control' of your devices. This tools will allow you to inquiry your devices and pair them to your own MQTT environment (they work very well: any issue usually lie in the MQTT broker configuration)
  • Custom pairer for Meross devices. The same as before, just more 'user friendly' and streamlined. This is an Android app which basically do the same 'pairing' configuration as Meross utilities. Used to be a bit clunky but it improved a lot and now it works like a charm: Open the app, scan for devices, detect, reconfigure, you're done!
