Current behaviour
A working version of ClusterIP is currently implemented in the eBPF backend that performs operations on the
cgroup/connect4
hook. It makes sense to try and see if it is possible to implement it in the XDP section. The XDP framework enables BPF programs to run as soon as the packet is received by the network interface. We should study how much of a performance we could achieve by taking the routing decision earlier in the packet life cycle.
