What happened:
If you create pod with a large docker image and delete it without waiting for it to start, then kubelet will continue to download and unpack the image for the deleted pod

What you expected to happen:
abort pulling/extracting docker image if pod will be deleted

How to reproduce it (as minimally and precisely as possible):
Create pod with a large docker image and delete it without waiting for it to start

Anything else we need to know?:

Environment:

  • Kubernetes version (use kubectl version): 1.17.2
  • Cloud provider or hardware configuration: baremetal
  • OS (e.g: cat /etc/os-release): 18.04.3 LTS (Bionic Beaver)
  • Kernel (e.g. uname -a): 5.3.0-40-generic
  • Install tools:
  • Network plugin and version (if this is a network-related bug):
  • Others:
