Bug with ~/.kube getting created as root user when using none driver #15576
Comments
Apparently this is some old bug, that has just been left there: Note that the "suggestion" (workaround) message also fails:
Since the whole directory is read-only, the file was never created. Workaround: Of course, this should not be needed for an out-of-the-box installation. This is semi-related to the bogus warnings that always appear:
They are a left-over from when minikube was running as "root". The first suggestion is non-sensical, since HOME=/home/vagrant.
Workaround: There is not even a minikube config available, to avoid the spam. 🤦 |

When using the "none" driver, the ~/.kube directory gets created as the "root" user.
This makes the updating of ~/.kube/config fail, since it cannot write to the directory.
Workaround: make sure to create $HOME/.kube (
mkdir -p ~/.kube
) before runningThere is some "cache" contents, for http and .kube/cache/discovery/localhost_8443/
