Hey I was so hyped to try this for the first time but all the renders are coming out black.

I'm running dynmap radiusrender 100 chunky instead of the recommended fullrender because there's no way I have the hard drive space, CPU or time to render my full creative server world. The renders are starting to appear if I run dynmap fullrender. So is it going to be possible to use ChunkyMap with radiusrender?

Left fullrender running for 2 hours and it is actually rendering black tiles, prior to what I said ^. This is all I've got to show, I should have more than this 20x20 area, no?

I think I fixed it by adding a hires perspective to the worlds.txt. I thought it was already set to high res because that's what it says on the first few lines of configration.txt.

worlds:
  - name: Creative
    maps:
      - class: de.lemaik.chunkymap.dynmap.ChunkyMap
        name: chunky
        title: Chunky
        perspective: iso_SE_30_hires

I think you could close this issue if you improved the README.

  • The dynmap wiki says to use maps with a class property, not a map property as stated in this README.
  • The note about perspective should be clearer, show people the hires perspective value if it's a requirement
  • Include a YML example like above to help with vagueness of step by step instructions

This is the coolest! However, I started this render with the command dynmap radiusrender 10 chunky, so the title of this issue still remains, no support for radiusrender.

Thanks for the hint! 👍 I'll improve the readme asap.

If you started rendering with radiusrender and it returns an image... Doesn't that imply that radiusrender works fine? It should work just fine, but lowres rendering is not supported yet (as already stated in the readme).

Edit: radiusrender is a Dynmap feature and I just render whatever Dynmap tells me to render. If you use /dynmap radiusrender 10, then it will render "at least a radius block area, centered on your current location of map 'mapname'" (source).

@danbovey If you send me a link to your dynmap, I'd be happy to include it in the readme. 😉

Yeah, when it's more complete it would make a much better cover image. The server is called AbsoluteCraft, maps are hosted at http://map.mc-ac.com.

Thank you, I added a link to your dynmap to the readme. Is radius render support still an issue or is this solved by my explanation above?

Yeah, I had some confusion over whether radiusrender was working but everything is working flawlessly now that perspective is set in the config.

Allright. I opened #4 to keep track on the supported resolutions.

@danbovey Just wanted to let you know that lowres and the other resolutions are now supported. 🎉 Maybe this allows you to render the entire creative map with Chunky?
