This gives an internal graded structure of an additive monoid algebra for the grading given by an arbitrary degree function. The grading in the original file is redefined as the grading for the identity degree function.

A typical situation in my mind is the grading of the free algebra on X, which is the monoid algebra on the free monoid on X, indexed by finite support functions in X →₀ ℕ. A concrete application of this grading of free algebras that I personally have in mind is the triangular decomposition of Drinfeld–Jimbo type quantum groups.
