Overview

The Computing Systems Engineering Laboratory (LESC) of the Federal University of Technology - Paraná (UTFPR, Campus Curitiba) is involved in research projects and also technological innovation projects aim at creating and developing cyber-physical systems applied to real problems of the society.

For this, new concepts, algorithms, techniques, and technologies are created in several areas of computer science and electronic engineering, aiming to design computational systems that involve the integration of hardware and software components with electromechanical/MEMS components and the physical world.

In particular, LESC has recently made efforts in the application of Unmanned (semi-)autonomous Aerial Vehicles (UAV) - popularly known as Drones - in some life-threatening human activities, such as the search and rescue of victims in disaster situations, and the inspection and maintenance of high voltage towers.
