Side By Side Folding Layout

Pelle Nilsson edited this page Dec 27, 2020 · 1 revision

It is possible to generate the front and back of a countersheet side-by side on the same page. This is done by enabling the One-Sided Sheets option.

For sheets of fronts and backs that can be folded to line up there are options available to rotate the fronts or/and backs. Of course the templates used might already be rotated one way or the other, so what settings to use depends on what the templates look like.

Since 3.0 there is an option Folding line in the middle that adds a vertical line down the center of the page. In older versions a line has to be manually added (preferably to Sheet Backgrounds). The folding line by default is a dashed grey line. It can be styled by creating a line with id cs_foldstyle and set the style of that element to what the folding line should look like.

4x2 Cards Example

A popular layout for printing sheets of regular playing cards, that fits both A4 and letter papers is to print both sides of 4 cards on each sheet, to fold and glue together after printing. This layout can easily be achieved with the countersheets extension since version 2.2 (and improved in 3.0).

To see this in action in version 3.0, try this with the /templates/prototype_cards.svg file open.

For input data use prototype_cards_two_sided.csv and set image path to the templates directory.

Under the Layout tab, enable One-Sided Sheets and Folding line in the middle. Set Rotate Fronts to -90 and Rotate Backs to 90.

Generate the sheets and you should see both sides of 4 cards on each generated sheet layer.

You might want to reduce registration lines length (and distance) if they overlap.
