Hello,

This is god damn awesome!!! Please do not stop working on this amazing piece of work!!!

I am super excited and have a ton of questions I will list a few:

Can we start the wiki here?
There are few pages that can be added:

  • Contribution page
  • Example templates (ships and stations)
  • Setup development environment (linux, win, osx)

Would you like to create a slack about this?
It will be easier to communicate (I can do it)

How is contributing done?

  • Are you OK with contributions?
  • Are you OK with doing pull requests?
  • Are there any tests I can run if I want to do any pull requests?

Thanks! :)

I've just removed wiki editing restrictions, so anyone who wants to edit it can do so. I'll see if I have anything to add as well.

I'm not familiar with Slack; I can try it, although I do see the benefits of keeping discussions localised to github even if the issues system isn't ideal.

Contributions: pull requests for bug fixes, system-specific code and other minor changes are very welcome. More significant changes may be welcome too, but it would be best to talk about them before putting in too much work (especially changes that would affect game balance).

I don't have any tests for pull requests. My approach to development is pretty ad hoc in general, to be honest.

Thanks for opening the Wiki!

Slack is a real time messaging system. And yes - I agree part of the discussion should be kept here :)

I see plenty of things I would like discuss, like the interface hot keys (IMO it is bit quirky - I guess this come from me playing other games though), It feels a bit easier to do this over a instant messaging.

The slack can be open so anyone interested can join :) Basically a modern IRC :D

In my opinion the game is a a tiny bit balanced towards the computer AI... Or I should actually start working on my own xD. And do not get me wrong I love that it is hard!

Ah, I've looked into Slack a bit and I'm not sure a real-time messaging system would work so well - I'm in an Eastern Australian time zone and would only be able to log in for a short time each day. A mailing list might work better, although I'm not sure if there'd be enough traffic to really justify it...

The game is balanced towards the AI in that after the first few levels the story-mode enemies get more starting resources and more favourable placements. After that, though, they're playing the same game you are... (except in hard mode)

The hot-keys are quirky, yes, although you can mitigate this to some extent using the key replacement options in init.txt (which is designed for non-QWERTY keyboards but can be used for general rebinding). I'm happy to take suggestions, though!

I've made some kind of draft of a wiki (see simonpuchert/liberation-circuit/wiki). I'm probably going to scrap/rewrite most of it eventually, but if you find something interesting in there, feel free to "steal" it.

I took the liberty to commit most of my changes to the wiki, while preserving the original information.
I hope someone finds this useful.
