【Feature Request】Please consider to provide essential head files for Windows #47

LLVM/Clang is nice on multiple platforms. However, specifically on Windows, users have to obtain headers from MSVC or MinGW as LLVM doesn't provide these essential components. But I really don't want to install any other components besides LLVM. Why doesn't LLVM provide those components directly?

It's not actually GCC that that you need. But, yes, you do need to provide platform headers from somewhere -- either from MSVC or from MinGW.

Perhaps https://github.com/mstorsjo/llvm-mingw would be helpful to you?

I don't think there's anything actionable in this bug, closing.

It is actually not bug, so I said "feature request". (I don't think I'm asking a question)

This could be an alternative, however, it is not maintained for a long time, and it is not an official solution as well.

As you mentioned, I definitely need headers from somewhere. That is reason why I'm asking (I'm asking for a request rather than a question, so what I need is a solution not an answer). Hopefully LLVM can provide release with headers as I really don't want install any other components besides LLVM.

Just curious - which part of it do you consider not being maintained for a long time, with the latest commit 3 days ago, the latest release with the LLVM 9.0.0 stable release a couple months ago, and using a version of mingw-w64 that is a couple months old?

The type of ipc_perm mode field used by sanitizers is inconsistent with one
found in glibc 2.31, resulting in a test failure during build.

The sanitizers don't actually use the field directly and only care about the
size and alignment of the whole structure.

Disable the field check until the upgrade to LLVM 10 which addresses the issue
in more comprehensive way.

The function IRExecutionUnit::PopulateSymtab() is only implemented in swift-lldb.

One thing it does is resolve any unresolved global symbols in the JIT
module. This global search can cause the JIT module to recursively be
asked for its symtab.

This patch works around the problem by removing the JIT module from
the list of modules being searched while in PopulateSymtab. That isn't
done in the most elegant fashion, as it does so by changing the state
of the IRExecutionUnit object.

There is a SIGSEGV at `DeduceTemplateArgumentsByTypeMatch`. The bug [llvm#51171](https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51171) was filled. The reproducer can be found at the bug description.

The `TypeSystemMap::m_mutex` guards against concurrent modifications
of members of `TypeSystemMap`. In particular, `m_map`.

`TypeSystemMap::ForEach` iterates through the entire `m_map` calling
a user-specified callback for each entry. This is all done while
`m_mutex` is locked. However, there's nothing that guarantees that
the callback itself won't call back into `TypeSystemMap` APIs on the
same thread. This lead to double-locking `m_mutex`, which is undefined
behaviour. We've seen this cause a deadlock in the swift plugin with
following backtrace:

The `TypeSystemMap::m_mutex` guards against concurrent modifications
of members of `TypeSystemMap`. In particular, `m_map`.

`TypeSystemMap::ForEach` iterates through the entire `m_map` calling
a user-specified callback for each entry. This is all done while
`m_mutex` is locked. However, there's nothing that guarantees that
the callback itself won't call back into `TypeSystemMap` APIs on the
same thread. This lead to double-locking `m_mutex`, which is undefined
behaviour. We've seen this cause a deadlock in the swift plugin with
following backtrace:
