Split Source Recipe into separate cookbook

The source cookbook adds a lot of dependencies that aren't typically used. Would it be possible to split it out to a different cookbook for those people who compile from source?

BTW - my argument here is it you probably don't want to compile applications on your production servers. If you want to use a custom build of logstash it's easier to manually compile it and post a jar somewhere and just change the url in the server recipe.
