[Bug] Font: "italic" sometimes looks like "regular" #5468
Comments
It looks to me like Lutris is rendering text correctly, it's a Wine program that is not. Does all Wine software misrender this way, or just Supermemo 18? What version of Wine are you using for this program? |
It's wine 5.2 More Info: I have the same issue in wine iexplore.exe from this prefixe: How did I get these print screens: Any idea? Thank you. |
Could it be that specific prefix that's busted? Can you install your game again, in a new freshly made prefix and see if it misbehaves there? I also suggest trying to use the very latest Wine ( |
Thank you. This is the result with another wine prefix: The font that looks so funny should be the same font like the other, but italic. When I press the left arrow button and after the rigth arrow button I get this. And this is how it should look like at the beginning: HTM-Code:
You can try out this htm by yoursef here: Please remember: It's with an antialiasing free system. If I activate antialiasing it looks right. But I do not want to use Antialiasing. And I also was able to use it without antialiasing in my old system and there it was fine. Very strange: It is no longer possible to open htm-Files with the wine browser that is in a newly created wine prefix. So the only possibility to test the font is to host the htm on a domain. This is the reason why I have created the address https://asdfghjkll.tiiny.site/ I was not able to create a new default prefix and use the iexplorer from this new prefix to open https://asdfghjkll.tiiny.site/ . It just does not load it. Very strange. |
Oh, wild, the new prefix is even more broken in an even weirder way. I feel like I'm just making it worse! Did you try using the latest Wine version? |
System:
MX-Linux 23.2 Xfce (Debian 12 based)
This is a Antialiasing free system: sudo dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig-config: nativ, full hinting, automatically subpixel
Lutris 0.5.17
Game: Supermemo 18
I use the font "Arial" in this "learning programme". "Regular" and"bold" looks good. But "italic" sometimes looks wrong.
I have "Arial" not in the folder "/home/user/LutrisPfx/supermemo-17/prefix/drive_c/windows/Fonts/". I have deleted the fonts in this folder because I want to use the fonts from "/usr/share/fonts/truetype/".
I had this setting always in MX-19 with Lutris 0.5.7.1. It was not a problem.
This is how it look sometimes:
What bothers me? Answer: Some letters are showed regular and some are showed italic. But each letter should look italic.
This is how it should look like:

Hint:
I have used exactly the same Lutris Prefix in MX-19 Xfce with Lutris 0.5.7.1 before. There I had not this issue.
Settings:
I have not created new my Prefix. I use exactly the same as in MX-19.
