Choosing the right map for automatic recognition

mapKurator is based on computer vision technology. This means that some qualities of the image may be key to how successful the automatic annotation process is. Besides the image formats accepted in Recogito, that have already been discussed, the definition of the image is also important. Try to run mapKurator on the highest resolution image available for a map, ideally at least 300 dpi. You can run mapKurator on lower definition images, but results may be disappointing.

So far mapKurator has been tested mostly on latin script. We encourage you to try on different alphabets, but don’t know how good the results of the process might be in these cases.
