Summary

Getting a product via REST API using a custom attribute as a filter field does NOT return all product data, including category ids. Getting the same product via SKU returns ALL of the product's data.

Preconditions

  1. Magento 2.1.7
  2. PHP 7.0

Steps to reproduce

  1. Get a product via a custom attribute as a filter field
  2. Get a product via SKU
  3. Notice how much more data is returned for the EXACT SAME product when a SKU GET is performed.

Expected result

  1. Getting a product via any API method should return the full product's data. Not some sort of half-baked assortment that varies upon your API route.

Actual result

  1. Getting a product via a filter field returns a condensed product object.

Thank you for acknowledging the issue. As it was reproduced in 2.3, I wonder how a 'headless' Magento PWA is supposed to succeed?
