the from . import syntax is not supported in 2.4/2.5 so we need to fix this. @rcoup - I'm actually not convinced this should be part of core - seems most useful as something outside of core that can easily have its own release cycle. What do you think?

Do we need python2.4 as well? What's our policy around that?

Any distro that has Boost 1.42 and all the other stuff we depend on surely has Python2.5?

RHEL I think was 2.4 last time I checked, and you always need boost from source on RHEL. I'm pretty sure everything across Mapnik works with 2.4 so ideally we'd keep it, but 2.5 is fine by me if there is a good reason to drop 2.4

k, will find a 2.4 box and do some tests. Should be pretty easy to fix.

Looks like RHEL5 only has Python 2.4, and RHEL6 has Python 2.6
