A better solution is to remember the last closed cursor position? |
I guess that's an advanced feature and could be integrated with sessions as metadata. |
Yes! |
Like fxha, I find myself having to "go back to the top" way too often when I open a file. I understand that when working on a file, it is nice to be able to go back "where I last was". An option to choose between the two behaviors would be nice to have. Alternatively, a "smart" behavior could be implemented: if the file has been "recently" modified, then go back to the last cursor position; if it has not been "recently" modified, then go to the top when opening it. Depending on users (this could also be a setting...) "recently" could be "one week" for example. |
Please remember that the application already supports random access jumps to a different document location, only that currently the target location must be a heading. Perhaps some clever graphical representation is possible that includes in the side-bar table of contents a way to jump to the beginning or end of a document. |
Open a file at the top is very useful when using marktext to view already existing markdown files. |
My previous suggestion was to add a feature to the table of contents that supports jumps to the beginning or end of a document. Would this feature help with your needs? |
That will be really helpful for my use case. |
Describe your feature request
We should add a settings option to open a file at the top or bottom because auto scroll to the bottom makes sense when continuing writing but I always need to scroll to the top of the document.
What problem does this feature solve? [optional]
It's really troublesome to scroll every file to the top.
