As part of my Bachelors Thesis I am evaluating if and to want extend Mastodon can be used to let users communicate about and with Systems of any kind.
A System can literally be anything that produces or consumes data, e.g. a Datasource, a Deployment Pipeline, a Script, a Build Job.
It'd like to have those Systems have unique Mastodon Accounts on my Instance and let them interact with Humans and other Bot Accounts.
As an Engineer or Developer usually takes care of more than one System and even wants to have it's own non-bot Account he/she/it needs one unique email address for each System that should also have an Mastodon Account.
I would like to discuss if this could be optionally disabled using an environment variable, i.e.:
export ENFORCE_EMAIL_UNIQUENESS=false.
The default should be set to true, to reduce the number of fake accounts, I get that.
This allows one Person to fully control multiple Mastodon Account with one email adress.
Best Regards
Rüdiger
