Seems like GNU Social doesn't always load or update avatars of Mastodon users. Not clear if it's their bug or ours.

Superfeedr was stripping <author> from the <feed>s it was delivering. I'm not sure if this issue still persists, but if so, it's gotta be a GS issue and not ours.
