Allowing users to make (some of) their lists public could be a nice way to promote accounts and make it easier for new users to find account they might want to follow. Public lists could be shown at the top next to "toots", "following", "followers".

I need this feature too. It would be convenient for me to recommend users with similar interests.

The core issue is federation, but since a list on Mastodon is just a list of users, it should be not hard to handle it.

Hi,
sharing public lists would be really cool. It's a way to basically create specific Timeline and share it to others.

Public lists would be awesome!

I'd hope that this issue would get more traction, given how difficult it is especially for new joiners to find relevant accounts to follow.

Hi,
In case it can help, I would suggest lists don't require following the accounts in the list as it's right now.

That sounds unrelated and I would recommend to make a separate issue for that suggestion.

Please go to #6982 and tell everyone that lists not requiring a follow is an obviously good idea. Forewarned, in my scan of the history (back to March 2018!) my sense is that the Mastodon Powers That Be like it the way it is and that it won't change.

It doesn't hurt to ask, I did.

I need this.

People are asking about my frontend curated list.

Those public lists as 'Who to follow' recommendations could then also shown collectively as 'top recommendations' based on a open and thoughtful algo, which could –for instance– measure the amount of combined followers of those who recommend.

Especially many (not-too-geeky) and often impatientish new users need easy guidelines & tips to start their decentralized SoMe-journey, without excessive floundering and frustration.
