Fractions like \frac{1}{\frac{1}{x}} are not properly aligned. (See report from the math.stackexchange forum.)

It appears that the extra spacing around fractions isn't taken into account when centering the inner fraction in the outer one.

A test case could use \bbox to enclose the inner fraction, which causes it to get the correct width.
