After #61, I noticed the links were the wrong colour in dark mode, but it was due to CSS being cached.
This is a copy of matplotlib/matplotlib#23790, though as fallback it checks versions of the themes in addition to just Matplotlib (since this only uses released Matplotlib, it may not change frequently enough without the additional checks).
