This should be MSC1236, and is still the closest thing we have to a spec to the widgets which Element implements today. I don't know why it's not showing up in the MSC index, and why the issue number is completely wrong.

for clarity: this is how widgets work today, and this just needs writing down in the spec.

Is this still the closest thing we have to an official widget API, or is there something in the spec?

There's no canonical document to describe widgets or the implemented API at the moment. Asking questions in https://matrix.to/#/#matrix-widgets:matrix.org is best in the meantime.

Has there been any update with the Widget support? I have looked through the spec for matrix and widgets are not in the proposals. I understand not wanting to go outside of the spec but it limits Cinny as a client
