My review on MSC3907 applies here too - #3907 (review)
The idea is sensible and something we should consider adding to the spec. The specific technical implementation is maybe more debatable (why not just have the sender redact the event instead of broadcasting an expiration timestamp?), but that can happen in a separate review cycle.
