Getting Started

To get started with Ghola, you will need to have Node.js and npm installed on your system as well as a MongoDB database running locally (or hosted). To use the default application you will also need a Google developer profile set up for required enviroment variables.

Installation

To install Ghola, follow these steps:

  1. Clone the repository:
git clone https://github.com/mdatz/ghola.git
  1. Install the dependencies:
cd ghola
npm install
  1. Create a .env file with the following contents:
OPEN_AI_KEY=sk-youropenaiapikeyhereplz
GOOGLE_ID=googleclientidhereplz
GOOGLE_SECRET=googlesecrethereplz
MONGODB_URI=mongodb_srv://yourmongodburihereplz
NEXTAUTH_SECRET=yourjwtsigningsecrethereplz

(Note: For full back-end api functionality you will need these additional environment variables)

GHOLA_API_URL=http://localhost:3000 (if running locally)
GHOLA_API_DOMAIN=localhost:3000 (if running locally)
GHOLA_API_TOKEN=yourgholaapitokenhereplz
GHOLA_API_EMAIL=yourgholaaccountemailhereplz
GHOLA_API_PROFILE_ID=yourdesiredprofileidhereplz
  1. Start the application:
npm i
npm run dev

Ghola will start running at http://localhost:3000.

Usage

To use Ghola, follow these steps:

  1. Create a profile using your Google account and Google developer credentials.
  2. Create a new chat bot profile.
  3. Customize your chat bot's profile and personality.
  4. Start a conversation with your chat bot persona by sending a message.
  5. Have fun chatting with your chat bot persona!
