I use a JavaScript file to create a 'back to top' icon and function when visitors scroll beyond 350px. In the Firefox (84.0.2 64-bit) Console there was, unsurprisingly, a message about this:

"This site appears to use a scroll-linked positioning effect. This may not work well with asynchronous panning; see https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Mozilla/Performance/ScrollLinkedEffects for further details and to join the discussion on related tools and features!"

However, if you go to that URL - https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Mozilla/Performance/ScrollLinkedEffects - you get a 404 error. The correct URL is https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Performance/Scroll-linked_effects

@rachelandrew The archived topic Performance/Scroll-linked_effects (on wayback here) is linked from Firefox console - you might get a message like:

This site appears to use a scroll-linked positioning effect. This may not work well with asynchronous panning; see Xxxxx for further details and to join the discussion on related tools and features!

Unfortunately the archive is no longer built (July 2021) which breaks the link. I assume the content was archived because it is rubbish. Can you help - i.e. assess if it is recoverable in some way, or if there might be a good alternative page to link to?

The associated buzilla bug is https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1723761#c3 (this came up in necrobump of the issue #1533)

We can probably close this. I discovered the content got moved into the mozilla-central tree and is hosted at firefox-source-docs.m.o, so I'm updating Firefox to point to that instead. If we can redirect people from the old MDN url to there, that would be great, but otherwise there's not much else to do.

Thanks @staktrace

This is fixed by #7722 (which just adds the redirect).
