- Install Subfilter for your browser (Chrome or Firefox)
- Open Netflix movie
- Switch off Netflix subtitles (the button down on the interface)
- Select subtitles language and subtitles filter (buttons up on the interface)
I recommend practicing with series instead of movies. Because language skills need repeating. There is better to watch one short episode several times a week than only one large movie once.
For the best experience search for movies with original audio and subtitles in your target language. Because when movies get translated, there are often differences between audio content and subtitles text. Meaning is the same, but words are a little bit different. These differences can make practicing with Subfilter hard or even impossible. Try to watch the first episode of a series and if there are many differences between audio and subtitles that stress you, better try another series.
Some movies have only one language and others have more of them. Usually, movies produced by Netflix itself contain many languages. But by default Netflix shows you only some of them. You can select which languages you prefer on the Netflix profile page.
Go on your Netflix profile page https://www.netflix.com/YourAccount , scroll down to Profile & Parental controls, select your profile, and choose Language - change.
If this doesn't work, you can download the extension Language Learning with Netflix that will unlock all available languages.
The best practice is to keep only one extension for Netflix switched on and switch off the others. Because these browser extensions can interfere with each other. But until now Subfilter for Netflix and Language Learning with Netflix works pretty well together.
