4 Instead of "La Brochure sur le SI", the text starts with "Ce document" adoc

From @opoudjis in #40 (comment)_:

That is deliberate by me, and I strongly urge us not to fix this. The boilerplate we are including in our generated documents is not intended just for the single document of the SI Brochure, but for all documents produced by BIPM. We cannot just insert the title of the document, because in French we don't know what the gender of the document title is (La brochure, but le rapport). And frankly, I do not believe that inserting the document title in the boilerplate is worth us adding a document title gender attribute.

This is not the desired behavior for the SI Brochure as requested by the BIPM.

There are potentially 3 solutions:

  • The current version, which uses the generic "the document"
  • Be doc-type specific, i.e. "the brochure"
  • Be document title specific, just like for the SI Brochure.

Clarification sought, response ETA after 2020-01-05.

Issue 1: the current “Copyright statement” contains the title of the document. While it would not be difficult to adopt the original wording, we were thinking that the same copyright statement should also be automatically applied to the other BIPM documents (Appendix 2 documents, MEPs, etc).

There are a few options:

a) Adopt a “per-document” copyright statement, where the copyright statement contains the title of the document.

"La Brochure sur le SI est distribuée selon les termes et conditions de la licence Creative Commons …”

There is an issue because “La Brochure sur le SI” does not match with the actual primary title of the document, which is "Le Système international d’unités”. Moreover, the challenge here is that we cannot just insert the title of the document, because in French we don't know what the gender of the document title is ("La brochure sur le SI", but "Le rapport”).

b) Adopt a “per document type” copyright statement, where we have a fixed set of document types.

i.e.
"La Brochure est distribuée selon les termes et conditions de la licence Creative Commons …”
"Le Rapport est distribuée selon les termes et conditions de la licence Creative Commons …”

c) Adopt a generic copyright statement that applies across all document types.

i.e.
“Ce document est distribuée selon les termes et conditions de la licence Creative Commons …”

Q: Which option is best?

From BIPM:

Your argument under (a) that “La Brochure sur le SI“ does not match with the title of the document is a good one. I think that the generic copyright statement, option c) is indeed the best solution.

They have accepted our proposal, so closing.
