Once AvalonEdit has been compiled for .NET 3.5, the IDE needs to be changed to use another code editing control instead of Scintilla.NET.

AvalonEdit seems to require WPF which is not implementing in Mono and hence can not be used for the IDE.

I'm going to investigate using the MonoDevelop editing control for use within the IDE.
