Pre-release

For ChromeOS, the latest version is now available on the Chrome Web Store with automatic updates. The versions posted here on GitHub will not work with the latest GeForce Experience.

This client is no longer supported for Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms. Use the new native PC client instead for better reliability, performance, and support for the latest versions of GFE.

To install, download the CRX file into your Downloads folder, then drag the CRX file from the Downloads folder into the Extensions (Menu -> More Tools -> Extensions) page of Chrome. Uninstall previous versions of Moonlight Chrome before installing this version. The extension does not update automatically so check here for updates regularly.

To launch, use Chrome App Launcher, the Extensions page, or just search for Moonlight on your PC and you should see it installed like a normal program.

Reminder: Moonlight Chrome is still in alpha, so it may not perform as well as our other Moonlight clients.

If you are stuck at the "Loading Moonlight" screen for more than a minute or so, you may have to manually enable NaCL in your Chrome settings. Type chrome://flags in the address bar and search for the option called "Native Client", click the Enable link for Native Client, and restart your browser.

Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift to unbind the mouse and Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Q to quit streaming.

Features:

  • Hardware accelerated video decoding up to 4K 60 FPS
  • Game controllers (currently limited to those for which Chrome has a built-in mapping, like Xbox and DualShock controllers)
  • Keyboard and mouse input
  • Remote audio support
  • mDNS support
  • Cover art for games

Known issues:

  • Streaming performance is worse than expected on some client hardware
  • Error handling needs work

Changes in Alpha 0.9.0:

  • Display error message with error code when connecting fails
  • Performance and memory usage improvements for loading box art
  • Fix bug that causes paired machines to randomly go offline
  • Fix bug that could cause pairing with PCs to be lost after restarting Moonlight
  • Fix bug that could cause audio to stop working after packet loss
