We have a draft proposal that has buy-in from the Reps Council and the Particiaption team, so that we can make the necessary changes to the Peers structure and start operating in a new model

Great to see this ticket. Are there any other Peers-related tickets around?

Can we add a tag "Peers" on this?

We are using "Leadership" tag for all issues around leadership bucket in the program, including Council and Peers.

I updated the issue description to set the goal / success metric, and to give ourselves some defined tasks and deadlines to get this done. If they don't feel right, let me know.

More notes from the meeting:

  • Review of what we discussed in Berlin. See images attached in this issue.
    Do we compare ourselves to a board, and operate within a similar structure to keep the council accountable? Or do we act more as a counseling body?
  • How do we become more active without becoming a "second council", something with a low transaction cost?
  • One possible role if to take on a mentoring role for council, 1-1, especially new council.

So more questions than answers at this stage, but we will follow up with:

  • Setup document(s) for us to capture thoughts and decisions
  • Another meeting

@ioana-chiorean I am moving this to "in progess" in waffle, because that's what it actually is. Ok?

@ioana-chiorean could you update this issue with an estimated timeline for this?

hmitsch commented Aug 12, 2016

Not sure if a timeline makes sense here? Since this Wednesday's Peers weekly call we have a list of activities/goals for the second half of 2016. Maybe it makes sense to talk about those in a blog post or so?

@ioana-chiorean what do you think?

@ioana-chiorean do you want to provide an update on where this stands right now? Is there anything we should be doing in Hawaii regarding this?

@hmitsch

hmitsch commented Nov 21, 2016

@MichaelKohler, we added line #7 ("Decision making process among Council, Program Manager, Peers, and Module Owner") to the Hawaii proposal sheet. Hope the session is going to be selected.

@hmitsch @ioana-chiorean since that session was really short in Hawaii, what are the next steps?

hmitsch commented Jan 20, 2017

We discussed this topic in today's Peers call. It is hard to summarize our conclusion. Main idea: We will get together in about 10 days and brainstorm ways we propose to support the Reps Program as Peers.

Stay tuned.

I think this can be closed, we will create a new issue with learnings from the last All Hands regarding expectations.
