nightly-activity-audience-description = Your audience for this activity are people that are comfortable using the different features of Firefox and would like to dive a little deeper. Maybe they want to learn some useful core skills that will help them as Mozillians or perhaps are comfortable using Developer Edition and want to learn more about Nightly. As just using Nightly gives us important information such as crashes, this is not only for developers or technical persons.

.title = Contribute to Common Voice | Activate Mozilla
commonvoice-title = Contribute to Common Voice
commonvoice-duration = variable
commonvoice-activity-intro = Common Voice is a project to help make voice recognition open to everyone. To create voice systems, developers need an extremely large amount of voice data. Most of the data used by large companies isn’t available to the majority of people. We think that stifles innovation. So we’ve launched Common Voice, a project to help make voice recognition open and accessible to everyone! Raise your voice and get involved!
commonvoice-activity-general = A useable data set needs at least 2000 hours of validated voice recorded by at least 1000 different voices. Voice diversity is key: gender, age, background noise, accents. We believe we can get this voice diversity from communities participation, and we’re hoping to see around 10% of the total goal (around 200 hours) in a few locales by the end of June, 2019.
commonvoice-activity-general-2 = You and your community can make a huge impact by sharing your voice, reviewing clips and unleashing a viral effect to get more people involved and promote the common voice project.
commonvoice-activity-impact-title = Impact & Metrics
commonvoice-activity-impact-2 = 1000 new voices per language
commonvoice-activity-impact-3 = 225 voice clips (15 minutes) per voice
commonvoice-activity-impact-4 = 450 clips reviewed per voice
commonvoice-activity-impact-5 = 1000 new Common Voice accounts created per language
commonvoice-activity-impact-6 = 1000 new newsletter subscribers per language
commonvoice-activity-audience = Audiences
commonvoice-activity-audience-2 = You: Individuals can contribute from home or on the go, at their own pace.
commonvoice-activity-audience-3 = Small groups: Close friends or family groups that want to see in action what this project is about.
commonvoice-activity-audience-4 = Medium & large groups: Student groups, event attendees.
commonvoice-activity-audience-5 = Crowds: Engage the public by setting up a booth or table in a busy space.
commonvoice-activity-flows = Activity Flows
commonvoice-activity-flows-description = This contribution activity can be done solo, with friends, as an event or in a public space. Why not try them all?
commonvoice-activity-solo = 🤠 Lone cowboy/cowgirl
commonvoice-activity-solo-description = Do a marathon session or try create a routine that makes it easy to remember to contribute. For example try using the commercials of your favourite show, or every day while you’re waiting for the bus. If you associate this with a regular task it will be easy to remember and you’ll get to make a meaningful contribution every day!
commonvoice-activity-solo-description-2 = Remember - because we need a diversity of voices - donating 15 minutes of your voice is enough, this is roughly 225 clips. If everyone reviews 450 clips we’ll meet our voice goals but there’s no limit to how many clips you can review!
commonvoice-activity-solo-record = To donate your voice
commonvoice-activity-solo-record-2 = Visit https://voice.mozilla.org and create an account (make sure you subscribe to the newsletter!)
commonvoice-activity-solo-record-3 = Click on "Speak"
commonvoice-activity-solo-record-4 = Click on the microphone and read the sentence out loud
commonvoice-activity-solo-record-5 = Click the red stop icon when you’re finished
commonvoice-activity-solo-record-6 = Go until you have recorded at least 5 sentences and then hit submit
commonvoice-activity-solo-record-7 = Repeat until you hit 225!
commonvoice-activity-solo-review = To review clips
commonvoice-activity-solo-review-2 = Once you have reached 15 mins of your voice it’s more useful if you to to the Listen section and help review other people’s voices.
commonvoice-activity-solo-review-3 = Click on "Listen"
commonvoice-activity-solo-review-4 = Listen to the voice (try not to read the screen)
commonvoice-activity-solo-review-5 = Now read the screen and compare with what you listened
commonvoice-activity-solo-review-6 = If it’s the exact same click yes, if not click no (note different accents are fine)
commonvoice-activity-solo-review-7 = Repeat
commonvoice-activity-solo-end = Once (or as you are getting there) you have recorded 225 clips and reviewed at least 450, it’s probably time for you to go to the next challenge, check the “Fun with friends” activity.
commonvoice-activity-friends = 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Fun with friends
commonvoice-activity-friends-description = Gather 3 to 10 friends or family members together. Make it fun by setting a goal for the number of voice clips & reviews you want to get during your time together. You could even come up with a prize for whoever gets 225 voice clips and 450 reviews first or, for whoever can get to the highest number of reviews during the event! Prizes can be something like stickers or even just acknowledgment at the event. Make the goals fit to how much time you have together.
commonvoice-activity-friends-description-2 = Remember - because we need a diversity of voices - donating 15 minutes of your voice is enough, this is roughly 225 clips. If everyone reviews 450 clips we’ll meet our voice goals but there’s no limit to how many clips each person can review!
commonvoice-activity-friends-description-3 = Introduce them to the Common Voice project by visiting the website <voiceLink>voice.mozilla.org</voiceLink> together. Talk about why it’s important and show them how easy is with just a smartphone to donate your voice and to review other people’s voices. Here are some <slidesLink>SLIDES</slidesLink> that might be helpful.
commonvoice-activity-friends-description-4 = Have everyone create an account (they can use their phones or any device)
commonvoice-activity-friends-description-5 = Spend 15 minutes having fun recording voices (you may need to spread out a bit if it’s a small noisy) by clicking on "Speak"
commonvoice-activity-friends-description-6 = Spend the rest of the time reviewing other people’s voices (enjoy other people’s accents and voices!)
commonvoice-activity-friends-description-7 = Have everyone keep track of their contributions at the top of the website
commonvoice-activity-friends-description-8 = Have people announce when they pass 25, 50, 100 so you can even create a leaderboard in your space.
commonvoice-activity-friends-description-9 = Once someone hits their goal, check their contributions and hand out prizes!
commonvoice-activity-friends-end = Invite them to share on social media using #CommonVoice and run this same activity with 2-3 people they know and share the experience back to you.
commonvoice-activity-time = 🤹‍♀️ Show time
commonvoice-activity-time-description = Make it a big event! Gather your colleagues, classmates, or community together to do a giant Common Voice contribute-a-thon. Here is a <posterLink>POSTER</posterLink> you can use at your event.
commonvoice-activity-time-description-2 = For big events we recommend spending time presenting the project first then announcing the goals for the event. Let everyone know what the goal is for the event. Consider coming up with prizes for people who do the largest number of recordings (on top of the 225 voice clips, of course).
commonvoice-activity-time-description-3 = Don’t forget to remind people that because we need a diversity of voices - donating 15 minutes of their voice is enough, this is roughly 225 clips. If everyone reviews 450 clips we’ll meet our voice goals but there’s no limit to how many clips each person can review!
commonvoice-activity-time-description-4 = Intro to the project (10 minutes)
commonvoice-activity-time-description-5 = The activity owner will run a max. 10 minutes presentation. Here are some <slidesLink>SLIDES</slidesLink> that you can copy and customize to introduce the project to the audience, the key questions that this should answer are:
commonvoice-activity-time-description-6 = What’s this project about?
commonvoice-activity-time-description-7 = Why is it important?
commonvoice-activity-time-description-8 = What are the goals of the event?
commonvoice-activity-time-description-9 = How can people contribute?
commonvoice-activity-time-description-10 = Voice donations (15 minutes - 30 minutes)
commonvoice-activity-time-description-11 = Individuals will sign-in the site and with their smartphones and microphones they will start donating their voices for 15 minutes. If the space is small or very loud you can have half the group start by reviewing while the other half does voice donations, switch after 15 minutes. Activity owner will control the time and ask people to move to the next stage of the activity.
commonvoice-activity-time-description-12 = Review time! (30 minutes)
commonvoice-activity-time-description-13 = Once everyone is done sharing their voice, have people make groups of two people and go to the Listen section of the site. One person of the groups will play the recording on his/her device and the other person will just listen (without reading the screen). The person listening will repeat what he/she has heard, if it’s the same as the screen is showing the first person will click “Yes” and move to the next one.
commonvoice-activity-time-description-14 = Activity owner will control time and ask for pairs to change roles after the first 15 minutes.
commonvoice-activity-time-description-15 = Wrap-up and sharing (5 minutes)
commonvoice-activity-time-description-16 = The activity owner will ask participants to share on their social media about this activity using #CommonVoice. Consider having a reward for the best tweet or share from the event!
commonvoice-activity-crowd = 🤩 Reach the Crowd
commonvoice-activity-crowd-description = If you have a conference you’re attending, or a large public space (like a cafeteria) where you could set-up a booth or table, you can help Common Voice by collecting many voices from different people.
commonvoice-activity-crowd-description-2 = We recommend you have 1 or 2 laptops or tablets up in a fixed place with only Firefox in full-screen mode with <voiceLink>voice.mozilla.org</voiceLink> loaded.
commonvoice-activity-crowd-description-3 = Common Voice <posterLink>POSTER</posterLink>
commonvoice-activity-crowd-description-4 = Instructions <signageLink>SIGNAGE</signageLink> (make a copy to edit)
commonvoice-activity-crowd-description-5 = Encourage people passing by to learn about how they can help create a voice data set that protects their privacy if they donate 2-3 minutes of their time.
commonvoice-activity-crowd-description-6 = Examples:
commonvoice-activity-crowd-description-7 = Hello! How are you doing? Do you know you can help machines to understand you and protect your privacy?
commonvoice-activity-crowd-description-8 = Hi! Did you know Common Voice wants to teach machines to understand us and protect our privacy?
commonvoice-activity-crowd-description-9 = Hello there! Would you like machines to understand your voice without sending it to Google or Amazon?
commonvoice-activity-crowd-description-10 = After this initial approach, quickly introduce people to the Common Voice project and invite them to donate 3 minutes of their time now to help their language be understood by machines.
commonvoice-activity-conversation = Join the Conversation
commonvoice-activity-conversation-1 = Help us find others to donate their voice! Ask participants to share on social media - “Help teach machines how real people speak, I’ve just donated my voice at https://voice.mozilla.org #CommonVoice”
commonvoice-activity-conversation-2 = If you run into any problems - ask questions in the <discourseLink>Common Voice Discourse</discourseLink> or join the conversation on <slackLink>Common Voice Slack</slackLink>.
commonvoice-activity-conversation-3 = Have feedback about this activity? File an issue on <githubLink>GitHub</githubLink> or leave a comment on <discourseLink>Discourse</discourseLink>.
