Join us at the Global Sprint, June 1-2. Leave a comment below if you're interested in contributing to this project during #mozsprint 2017!

Note to the Project Lead 🎉

Congrats, @vyaspranjal33! This is your official project listing for the Mozilla Global Sprint 2017. To confirm your registration, please complete and check off the following:

  • Complete Open Leadership 101
  • Provide a GitHub repository for work and discussion on your project in a comment
  • Create a README file in your project repository. This file should help newcomers understand what your project is, why it's important, and kinds of help you're looking for.
  • Turn on your Issue Tracker and create issues to describe each task that you need help with and how a contributor can get started on that task. Create a label called mozsprint and apply it to your issues.

Checklist for FEATURED Projects 📋

To have your project FEATURED on Mozilla Pulse, complete the following documentation. In past Sprints, well-documented featured projects have 5 times more contributions than other projects. Details about each item and more information about how to create them are on our Project Requirements Page.

Once all of the above is complete,

  • Leave a comment with the text This is ready for Mozilla Pulse. Your community wrangler will review this issue and post your project 🎈

If you get stuck at any point, feel free to look at the requirements page and project templates or reach out to your community wrangler, @jvallera. We're here to help you through this process.

Thanks @vyaspranjal33. It is looking great! Before we post to pulse I want to make sure we have everything we need. Can you please include a little more info in the Contributing.md file? I think people will have a few questions, if you can answer them there we can get this posted. Here are some questions I have:

What is Privacy Brigade? Is it a campaign? a piece of curriculum? a series of stories? etc...
What are the goals of Privacy Brigade?
Aside from learning about privacy and talking about it to others, what can people do to contribute to this project? (give suggestions and examples)
What is the roadmap for the project?

Great. Thank you for adding that additional information. Now you are ready to build out a timeline for this project. In order to accomplish your goal do your best to identify any milestones you need to accomplish along the way. When you start inviting people to this project they can see what your milestones are and have a better understanding of how to help reach them.

Here is the project posted in network pulse: https://www.mozillapulse.org/entry/236

Please continue to work on the contribution.md page. It is still not clear what you need from people. You are generally saying, "get out there and talk about privacy" or "go ahead and make some code", but in order to get valuable contributions you need to be simple and clear about what you NEED from people.

The goal of the project is extremely abstract and will cause people to be confused on the target of the project. With what exist now a potential contributor might be confused of what the project leader actually wants when he is talking about creating extensions/addon/webapp.

Please explain more on what kind of extension/addon/webapp in the context of privacy that these project are trying to create. Give concrete examples like, safety notification, etc.

Contributing.MD contains several half-baked explanation of the project like what's written on "What is Privacy Brigade", formatting and punctuation can also still be improved.

Regarding communication channels, I don't think contacting the project leader via email is a good method to manage an OSS. I would really suggest using the classic method of IRC/Slack where everyone can chat together and discuss about things rather than making it Project Leader-centric development.

Hi @vyaspranjal33

I suggest proceeding with these next steps asap, so you can start sharing the project:

  1. Add issues - specific things people can start to working on
  2. Add the label "mozsprint" to your issues
  3. Publicize the project

Let me know what you think or if you have any questions.

Hey @vyaspranjal33 ! My name is Aure, and I'm working with the sprint team to check in on projects. This looks great. You might think about adding a few more easy issues to your issues queue, we're trying for at least 5 #mozsprint issues per project.

It could be as simple as reviewing project documentation, or responding to some discussion idea, low pressure, but just wanted to check in and echo @jvallera 's points above. Thanks!
