Thanks @p-v! Would you mind removing the README section and just keeping the Makefile changes in this PR?

Since the majority of users for this repo don't have an active Go development environment setup (and it's a particularly cumbersome environment to get going because of the $GOPATH madness etc), I prefer not to encourage compilation from source unless the end-user is already an active Go developer -- in which case they won't need the instructions.
