One more observation: in that proposal, there's a variation in thickness, that normally doesn't occur in neogrotesque fonts such as Karla/Karmilla. Some comparisons of other fonts in that family:

Warning: I'm no font designer, and could not make fontforge usable on my system. This is a drag, drop and scale from Illustrator.
Good? No way. But it kinda works.
Maybe it motivates some one else.
The shape is ok, but some one should probably check the kerning and the exported ttf's.
