Originally reported by Ben Finney (Bitbucket: bignose, GitHub: bignose)

The distributed source package (the Source tarball at https://pypi.python.org/pypi/coverage/) does not include the specific build scripts needed for running the test suite.

Please include the scripts used for testing the source in the distributed source, and ensure they are the same scripts used to test the source before distribution.

Original comment by Ben Finney (Bitbucket: bignose, GitHub: bignose)

Missing components seem to be (non-exclusive): the ‘Makefile’ (which encapsulates the ‘test’ target), and the ‘test_old.sh’ program (which is mentioned in issue #276 as the way to run the test suite without ‘tox’).

Adding all the files to the source kit also closed #281.
