Getting Started

Sign Up for New Relic

If you don't already have a New Relic account, you can sign up here to get your first 100GB of data and unlimited basic users.

Install the Browser or Mobile Agent

Follow the documentation to install the Browser, iOS, tvOS, or Android agents. Beyond providing their own considerable insight into your user experience outside of your video player, they will serve as a useful integration point for the video monitoring SDKs.

Install the appropriate video tracker

Our player and platform page provides links to all of our open source trackers. Choose the appropriate tracker and follow the instructions in the repo to install and configure it. For players in a web environment, this is usually a one line change. Other environments may require more work.

Learn about your data

Once the tracker is deployed, data should begin reporting almost immediately. Of course you can query the data yourself, but if you'd like to see some example queries before diving in, check out our example dashboards. After importing that dashboard, click the ... button on a given chart and then "view query" to see the underlying query.

Set up an Alert

New Relic makes it easy to get real-time notifications when something is amiss. Want to know when your users can't reach your content? Navigate to the "Video Start Failure Ratio" (or any other!) chart, click the ... and then "Create an alert condition" and follow the instructions. More information on alerts can be found here.
