Auto Upload does not work #2979
Comments
Can you exclude nextcloud from power saving mode and try again? |
Done, same thing. I'll try to get the server logs, but I'm in the UK at the moment traveling |
This should be independent from server… |
I am facing the same problem on a BQ Aquaria X Pro with Android 8.1.0. It does not matter if I enable or disable power optimization for Nextcloud app. I have to force a rescan to have files uploaded. Seems that the Camera folder is the only one where the new file gets auto-uploaded when a photo is taken. All other folders that I tried (with images only, text files only and mixed content) need a forced rescan each time you add a file to the folder. Update: Just tried to activate auto upload on the Documents folder and moved a picture into it with Total Commander. Even a forced rescan did not work - changing the power optimization feature had no effect. |
@sehucke @tobiasKaminsky @fpernice518 Hi guys, I posted a solution here that works for many users. TLDR: clearing NC app cache/data + reinstalling NC app. |
@tobiasKaminsky disabling power mode seemed to have did the trick. Every time I turn it back on, it says it's waiting for power saving mode to be disabled. But this isn't a solution, the phone hardly lasts me a couple hours without power saving enabled. And after the initial upload, this shouldn't take too much time to upload and shouldn't eat up much battery |
Using an S9 and no workaround helped, and I do not want to reinstall the app every time this happens. Seems to run on the other devices syncing to my nextcloud without problems
All running 3.2.4 (latest play store app), I would be really happy if this feature starts working as reliable as on the iOS version of the app. |
I'm using an S9+ and reinstalling the NC app (plus clearing NC app data/cache) fixes the auto-upload thing for weeks now, now it works as reliable as iOS upload. If you are worried that the list of files will take forever to repopulate after reinstall, don't worry, it is surprising fast (less than 5 seconds) for the list of files to repopulate fro NC server. Perhaps the data configuration settings getting de-linked or corrupted whenever Samsung does their security updates. |
This does not work on the Galaxy S8, it still asks me to "exit power save mode" before it will upload. |
The solution is for people whose auto-upload cannot detect new photos at all, like new photos are not appear on their upload queue list. I also have "exit power save mode", but that's easy fix. I just turn off the power-save mode temporarily, it uploads pretty fast, then I turn power-save mode back on later |
@rwat1 I must assume that perhaps that making panorama photos could lead to the issue. |
Yes, CAN CONFIRM. My S9+, with normal picture, works great. WOW!! Who do we report this to? Edit: Ironically, deleting the Panorama seems to allows the auto-upload to function again...Can you confirm? |
and clearing only the cache from apps list fixed it. no reinstall and thing was needed |
I made a separate thread for the Panorama issue. #3053 (comment) Wow, that's good to know that no need to reinstall, that clearing NC cache/data from the Apps list solved it . Will do next time. |
@rwat1 I tried what you suggested - still the same problem. What I tested:
Afterwards, I activated one of the pre-populated auto upload folders (folder "Screenshots"). I created a screenshot and it got uploaded without complaints. I then tried to add a different custom folder where SMS Backup & Restore stores it's xml backup files. Again, no success / no automatic uploading. It seems that NC does not recognize the appearance of new files (or text files?!) in custom folders. When I force a rescan ("Uploads" -> "Menu" -> "Force rescan / Neuen Scan erzwingen") the files are uploaded perfectly fine. What I am wondering:
|
for me it was fine just do clear the cache but not the data |
I updated to 3.3.0 at I cannot recreate that situation. |
I just updated to 3.3.0 either. Indeed, my .md files are uploaded now. But the upload does not start directly after the file is created. It takes some time (~10 minutes in two test runs) for NC to detect and upload the files. Could you confirm that this is how it is intended to work @mario , @tobiasKaminsky ? For me this behavior is totally fine - as long as all files are reliably uploaded and no files are missed. ;-) I would be interested in what has changed in 3.3.0 regarding auto upload. Maybe you could reference the corresponding PRs / commits to this issue? |
Yes, updated to v3.3.0, now Panorama can upload just fine. What changed from v.2.3.4 to v3.3.0 that fixed the auto-upload for .md files and Panorama? @sehucke so is your prob still there, like does ur upload work now? |
Still having this issue on my end |
Sorry for the delayed reply @rwat1 ... I had no time to for additional testing over the last weeks. But my last result was that auto upload works now. It just needs a few minutes to detect changes. |
This request did not receive an update in the last 4 weeks. Please take a look again and update the issue with new details, otherwise the issue will be automatically closed in 2 weeks. Thank you! |
Actual behaviour
After setting up the auto upload folder on my android device (upload on wifi) files do not sync. This is true when the selected folder is either on the phone itself or the SD card
