Mark a stable release #289

It would be good if there would be one stable, known to work, release on github.

Background: I recently wrote a formulae to install nvc on OSX via homebrew with the simple command brew install nvc.
The formula is still in my fork of homebrew. I didn't do a pull request yet� to the upstream homebrew because they usually ask for at least one "release" version in addition to the git HEAD version for new formulas to be added to homebrew.
