The NewClient() release

For this release I combed through the whole codebase and fixed all the linter errors I could find.

At the same time, I decided to shorten the constructor from NewClientFromAPI() to the shorter and prettier NewClient() - tagging this as v2.0.0 since that is technically a breaking change.
