Only the longdouble version fails, as reported by Friedrich Romstedt on-list a few days ago. It should be checked if this can be fixed, if not it can be marked as knownfail like done in the 1.5.x branch in 516aa4a5d1e.

Same failure on Linux PPC / PPC64, I would be grateful if you could skip sys.platform == "darwin" for both tests

That PR also has better PPC detection, which should be backported to 1.6.x.
