Build out of tree #909

Instead of placing all compilation artifacts in the source tree (object files, intermediate source files), put them in a dedicated build directory.

Much easier to clean up
Simplifies .gitignore
Allows to maintain multiple states in parallel (no need to make clean when changing PLATFORM).
