Steps to reproduce:

  1. Install the Zoom client for Windows.
  2. Launch Zoom.
  3. Go to any text field in the program.
  4. Type some text in it.
  5. Use the standard text review commands (e.g. the arrow keys, Control+the arrow keys, etc.) to try to review the written text.

Actual behavior:

NVDA stays silent.

Expected behavior:

NVDA should read the written text in the text field.

System configuration:

  • Operating system: Windows 10 Pro version 1803 (build 17134.320), 64-bit, in Bulgarian with all locale settings set to "Bulgarian".
  • NVDA version: alpha-16123,142e542a.
  • Zoom Meetings version: 4.1.33259.0925.
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-4670 at 3.40GHz.
  • RAM Memory: 8.00GB.
  • Graphics: MSI GeForce GTX-1050TI Gaming X 4G, 4096MB dedicated memory + 4065MB shared system memory, desktop resolution set to 1920x1080.
  • Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4600, 128MB dedicated memory + 2048MB shared system memory, desktop resolution set to 1920x1080.
  • Sound Card: Realtek ALC887 at Intel Lynx Point PCH - High Definition Audio Controller.

Other questions:

Does the issue still occur after restarting your PC?

Yes.

Have you tried any other versions of NVDA?

Yes, NVDA 2018.3.2

@k-kolev1985 how is this now with NVDA 2020.1 RC1 and the last version of the Zoom client?

@Adriani90 The problem is the same - tested with the latest version of the Zoom client and the last NVDA alpha build.

Isn't this PR #8491 related to the issue? Just thought it could be an idea to mention it since it is where the appModule for Zoom is created and the appModule perhaps could be expanded to fix this issue?

Is this issue fixable by NVAccess? Given how popular Zoom is right now, this seems like something that should really be looked into.
