Agenda

  • Review use cases for comms plan
    • In last week's meeting we collected many ideas for raising awareness about Egeria. This week we should build on that to look at usecases and withing each use case, begin to answer questions such as:
      • Who needs to care about this use case?
      • What issues do they face?
      • What do they need to understand about Egeria to appreciate that it is a possible solution?
      • How do they find out more and move to adopting.
    • This is the current list of use cases:
      • Establishing a open, organization-wide data catalog
        • Who cares? Information Architects, CDOs, Data Consumers (Data Scientist, Analysts, ...)
        • What issues? Can not find data, frightened of auditors, no socialization of data (quality, Ts&Cs, ...), data breaches, privacy, access control, no-one using data (data lake is a white elephant), data warehouse cost/support for new use cases, legacy system data silos, difficult data integation, difficult to automate operation of data lake, ...
        • What need to understand? What is metadata? Open type system and repository? What is a catalog and what does it contain? How is it populated? How is it used? Who uses it? How does it fit with my other tools? Integration patterns? Case study showing it working. Details of orgs providing support or supported offerings based on Egeria.
        • How do they take the next step?
          • Visit our webpages
          • download whitepaper (aimed at different personas - or stages in the project)
          • guidance to run POC
          • Relevant demos/labs/training/videos
          • getting buy-in (case studies)
          • understand list of vendors already support Egeria (link to conformance list)
          • what do I need to do to integrate existing tools
          • measure maturity and progress (metrics)
      • Achieving visibility and traceability of all your data
      • Designing metadata capture for a data lake landing area
      • Capturing and understanding lineage for reports and AI
      • Sharing metadata between tools
      • Creating a data strategy
      • Picking the right Egeria topology for your org
      • Working with common models
